The Somonauk-Leland-Sandwich FFA Chapter has had a busy last two months. They have been filled with award applications, and competing at multiple Career Development events.
The chapter is proud to say, they had advanced to district in the Parliamentary Procedure CDE. Making up the team was Brody Zmolek, Cassie Rogers (Secretary) , Carli Erickson, Cody Wrobel, Ethan Plote, Josh Toft (Chairmen), Valerie Johnson, and Joe Warhurst....
This CDE allows members to conduct a mock meeting to demonstrate their knowledge of basic parliamentary procedure law, and the correct use of proceedings. The chapter took 2nd place at the section level with Josh Toft being top section chairmen, and Cassie Rogers being the 3rd top secretary. After section, the chapter advanced to district, where they took 4th place.
In addition to Parliamentary Procedure, the chapter had several members compete this year at the Public Speaking CDE. Representing the chapter was Stephen Riskedal with Extemporaneous , Jackie Marco with Creed reciting, and Jalyne Herren with Prepared speech. Stephen took 1st place, Jackie took 4th, and Jalyne took 3rd place.
The chapter was proud to send 12 members to Proficiency awards this year. Proficiency awards are a competition among FFA members and their record books. (Business’s) Competing at the section level was Joe Warhurst-Community and Home Development, Melanie Bennett-Entrepreneurship Ag Sales,, Sara Glab-Speciality Crops, Brian Pfau-Poultry Production, Delyn Marshall-Wildlife Management, Cassie Rogers-Swine Production, Stephen Riskedal-Goat Production, Jalyne Herren-Sheep Production, Cody Wrobel-Ag Communications, Brody Zmolek-Food Service, Cordell Wiesbrook-Turff & Grass Management,and Jimmy Gavin- Ag Mechanics. Advancing on to district was Cassie Rogers, Stephen Riskedal, Joe Warhurst, Cody Wrobel, and Melanie Bennett. Cody Wrobel won district in Agricultural Communications, and will be advancing to state for his business record book.
Stephen Riskedal and Jalyne Herren also represented the chapter at the Job Interview CDE. The Job Interview CDE is a mock job interview process for attendees. Jalyne and Stephen both submitted mock resumes, applications, and where interviewed by a panel of possible employers. They took 5th overall in the Junior Division.
